There are only a few teams in all of professional sports that are recognizable by their jersey design and logo. These teams have won multiple championships and dominated their sport like few other teams. Here are the 5 most recognizable dynasties in all of sports in no particular order:
Dallas Cowboys: There are few things as classic as the blue and silver star. It's simply all you need to recognize one of the most popular dynasties in football. They are also among the most demanded NFL jerseys for fans, as well. The Cowboys had two dominant stretches: in the 70s and in the 90s, with all time great Quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman. Michael Irvin is one the greatest Wide Receivers, Emmitt Smith is the all-time leading rusher in league history, and there is the legendary Coach Tom Landry. Even “haters” of the team have to acknowledge that the Cowboys are a classic dynasty.
Pittsburgh Steelers: It's impossible to attend a Super Bowl party where guests aren't wearing Steelers NFL jerseys. The Steelers have the dynasty tag simply by continuing to win Super Bowls every few years and returning a quality team to the field every season. They might just be one of the best selling NFL jerseys ever. The Steelers have some of the all-time greats in Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, and Jerome Bettis, and solid defensive players like Troy Polamalu. The black and yellow jerseys are striking, and project their reputation for tough defense.
New York Yankees: People across the world wear the famous pinstripes of New York's legendary baseball team. They are the most recognized American sports team around the world, and why not? They have 27 World Series Championships to their credit, an average of one every three years of their existence. The partial list of all time greats is impressive: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Derek Jeter, and (arguably) Alex Rodriguez. You may not like them, but it's really because you envy them. The team the world outside of New York City loves to hate.
Boston Celtics: The Celtics tore through the NBA from the 50s through the 80s with 16 championships. The famous Boston Garden was nearly impossible to win in because of the passion of their fans. Their fan base is deep, and you can't beat the green apparel with the white shamrock for shear historic class.
Los Angeles Lakers: No team has been greater in the NBA in recent history, with 10 championships since 1980 behind players such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. The flash and glitter of Hollywood has substance with that dynasty, and the Lakers are one of the most envied teams in sports.
There is nothing like supporting your team in the middle of a dynasty – hopefully, you’ve had the pleasure at some point.
