Friday, August 6, 2010 - 6:54pm

Shrimp season opens this month in Louisiana.

Officials say it's safe, but for those looking for oysters may be delayed.

Commercial fishermen who make a living off the public oyster beds in Louisiana waters pushed for a delay in the re-opening of the state-run zones.

They fisherman say more time is needed for the oysters to reproduce.

Shrimp season will reopen August 16th statewide, but some areas may still be closed.
