LAFAYETTE - Lafayette held a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday for the newest addition to its community.

Gerard Park held a grand opening for the city's first handicap accessible playground. The new park is called Park Independence.

The project was a joint effort by the city of Lafayette and the Kiwanis Club.
