Horrific Car Crash on Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans
BATON ROUGE (KADN) -- Former LSU standout Chad Jones is listed in critical condition after an early morning car crash on Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans around 5 Friday Morning.
The crash was right in front of a Home Depot on Carrollton Avenue. A New Orleans Police spokesperson says Jones was driving his 2010 Range Rover toward Canal Street when he lost control and crashed into a streetcar pole. Emergency crews had to cut Jones from the vehicle, and two passengers are expected to be OK.
Jones was taken to a New Orleans hospital, where he's listed in critical condition and was expected to undergo surgery.
Just last week, Jones signed a contract with the New York Giants. He was drafted in the third round in April. At LSU, Jones was a safety on the Tigers football team and was part of the BCS National Championship team in 2008. He was also a pitcher for the Tigers when the LSU baseball team won the College World Series in Omaha in 2009.
LSU Football Head Coach Les Miles commented on his Twitter page today, "Just got news about Chad Jones' car accident. We are praying for Chad and his family. Keep him in your prayers."
