A new technique could change the future of oyster farming in Louisiana.
Researchers have adopted a new process where oysters are grown and suspended off of the sea floor in a water column. This allows cleaner oysters and faster growth than oysters traditionally harvested from reefs.
Traditional harvesting won't be disbanded, instead the new form will increase the amount of oysters already available.
Researchers have been testing this technique for 8 years.
