Officials need your help finding alleged rapist

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect alleged to have committed a forcible rape on Friday.

The victim, an 18 year old female, reported she was out with friends when she and the suspect were allegedly left alone near an apartment complex in Lafayette. The suspect, Joseph James Clay,23, of Breaux Bridge, is alleged to have forcibly raped and committed second degree battery on the victim. Detectives have since obtained arrest warrants for the arrest of Clay for Forcible Rape and Second Degree Battery.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the location of Joseph James Clay to call the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
