
On Thursday at approximately 11:15 p.m., a Lafayette Police K-9 Officer conducted a traffic stop of a Honda Accord eastbound on I-10 near the Louisiana Avenue exit. The traffic stop yielded 14 pounds of marijuana that were packaged in 5 gallon buckets of roofing tar. The street value of the marijuana is estimated at approximately $34,000 dollars.
Police suspect that the drugs were being transported from Houston, Texas to a destination in Florida. 31-year-old Slavio Fuentes of Mursessboro, Tennessee and 25-year-old Rudy Robeli of Panama City Florida, were both charged and arrested for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
The case remains under investigation.
