For the first time in years, passengers in and out of Baton Rouge Airport will have a low cost choice, which is great news for those of us just down the road in Acadiana.
Vision Airlines announced today that they’re flying to places the other Airlines that serve the airport, don’t. Although the company has been in business mainly as a charter airline for years, now they’re expanding passenger service all across the Southeast and at fairs under $100.
Two of the three flights will be on 737 jets. None of the other carriers use jets that large in Baton Rouge. The other will be on a small, but newer Dornier 328 Turbo Prop. Jim Caldwell is with BTR. He says Vision’s plans don’t include New Orleans, and that helps level the playing field.
“We will have something they don’t have,” Caldwell said. “We’ll have non stop low cost service to Destin.”
