A 16-year-old filmmaker from Baton Rouge is catching his biggest break yet this weekend.

Nathan Velasquez is premiering a movie he wrote, directed and produced himself at the Grand Cinema on O'neal Lane on Thursday, Oct. 18. The short film is called "Neverending Road" and it's about a woman's fight against depression.

Nathan says he made "Neverending Road" on a $500 budget. The stars of the film are members of Nathan's family.

Nathan says the professionals from Celtic Studios promised to show up to watch it. He hopes lots of people show up to next week's showing, so he can prove that he's growing as a writer, producer and director.

"I thought perhaps I should try to do something that is more serious so people can see that I'm able to do more than just the short films with my family at the house" says the rising star.

"Neverending Road" is movie number 20 for Nathan.
