People living in Denham Springs are shocked after the city council member's arrest.

"I mean drinking and driving that's just something no body should do," said Beauchamp. "Every body makes mistakes, but that's just something you don't do. "

Mother of two Kayla Beauchamp says event's like the DWI arrest make here even more watchful.

"As a mom just being in the car with kids I worry about you know just normal stuff that could happen," said Beauchamp. "But, somebody like that drinking and driving on the street. It's just I can't believe it."

The council member's blood samples were taken to the state crime lab. No word on when those results will be made available.
