Lafayette wants to keep gambling out of the Parish.

The Lafayette Chamber Of Commerce since the nineties has chosen not to bring casinos into the hub city.

Tonight the chamber is defending that decision pointing out our economy is doing fine without them.

They say Lafayette is at the top of the list of best mid sized cities for economic and job growth.

Rob Guidry with the chamber says the decision not to inject land or river boat casinos into the mix of Lafayette Parish was not a moral one but one that was part of their economic development strategy.
