Sheriff: Family members had to restrain man after he stabbed his roommate in the back
LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A Lafayette man is accused of stabbing his roommate in the back on Sunday. We’re told that family members had to hold the man down as they waited for help.
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred on Sunday, July 15 shortly before 8:00 p.m. When deputies arrived at the home on West Congress Street, they found the suspect, Shane Jenkins, 28, being restrained by family members.
Witnesses say Jenkins stabbed his roommate in the back, but a reason was not provided regarding his motive.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is currently being treated. He is listed in guarded but stable condition.
Jenkins was arrested and booked in the Lafayette Parish Jail where he is being held on one count of Attempted Second-Degree Murder. He is being held in lieu of a $125,000 bond.
