Cajuns lose, but still win

UL falls at home to Troy but will still host a first round postseason game

All last week UL head basketball coach Robert Lee said his team "HAD TO WIN" their Thursday night matchup with Troy if they wanted any chance of hosting a first round Sun Belt Conference tournament game.

They lost.

And yet, they won.

The Cajuns get a new lease on life despite missing a chance to secure that first rounder themselves when they fell to Troy at the Cajundome 81-67 last night.

However, the Cajuns WILL still get to host a game next Wednesday night because FIU and New Orleans both lost last night as well. Those loses means the Cajuns can finish no worse than 8th in the conference. (Seeds 4 thru 8 host games in round one)

UL gets what they want but, no doubt, not how they wanted to get it. Backing into a home game means you still get a home game...but maybe leaves a sour taste in your mouth if you're coach Lee and the fellas. Winning and cementing your spot in the first round would probably have been more satisfying to the Cajuns.

Nevertheless, the Cajuns are at home this Wednesday night.

But if they lose then, it's over. There are no second chances anymore.
