Infected shrimp threaten Gulf
LOUISIANA — Wildlife experts are worried about the appearance of Tiger Prawn in the Gulf of Mexico.
Officials say the native shrimp species could possibly be infected with a variety of diseases.
Martin Bourgeois, a biologist who heads the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, says the shrimp so far have been netted in waters near Lafitte, Grand Isle and Venice.
Officials say if fisherman do net this pest, to let them know.
