Law officials rewarded for DWI enforcement

BATON ROUGE - Louisiana law enforcement agencies in the area got more than 7,700 drunk drivers off the roads in 2009.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission honored officers from all over the state for their DWI enforcement last year on Tuesday.

More than 15 agencies and several officers received awards.

Chief Jeff LeDuff says the Baton Rouge Police Department has a task force that specifically deals with DWI's every single day.

An estimated 451 people were killed in alcohol related accidents in Louisiana in 2008.
