A group of southern lawmakers are trying to secure billions in emergency aid for farmers.

They say growers affected by bad weather can not wait for help under the existing federal farm programs.

Early season drought and late season rain has hurt farmers this year.

Legislators from Mississippi and Arkansas are leading the push to secure 2.1 billion in emergency aid.
