Man arrested for scalding child

OPELOUSAS — Carey Cortez is behind bars after police say he placed his son in a tub of scalding hot water.

Offials say the child was treated for second degree burns under his toes and first-degree burns on the tops of his feet.

If convicted, Cortez could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years.
