Wednesday Night Sports for April 15th
Baseball camps for kids, UL workouts and local boxing highlight tonight's sports lineup
Teurlings Catholic High School's head baseball coach Mike Thibodeaux had a great time Wednesday afternoon. He stood up in front of a group of 60+ kids and got to listen to them all talk about how much fun they had running bases, throwing and catching at Teurlings' baseball and softball camp earlier that day.
That wasn't the only game in town on Wednesday. The UL baseball team lost 9-2 to Southeastern over in Hammond. I checked in with the UL baseball team before they left about what it takes to get yourselves ready to play out on the field. Jake Rayburn, the UL Assistant Athletic Trainer, walked us through a typical weight room workout with Tony Robichaux's bunch.
The UL softball team put the finishing touches on a 3-game sweep over Florida Atlantic last night, 2-0 down in Boca Raton. Ul outscored the Owls 11-0 in the series.
Also, we checked in with UL women's tennis coach Tina Samara on her team's upcoming trek to the Sun Belt Conference tournament. More on that story on Thursday....
And finally, I stepped in the ring with local boxers Jarred LeBlanc and Mason Menard to find out what they're doing to get ready for Brawlin' at Blackham this Saturday. A busy week in sports continues on Thursday with Tips from the Tee Box and a visit to the 2009 LA Pelican Classic at the Wetlands. See you at 9 p.m. on FOX 15!
