Parts of the Carencro area got 13 inches of rain.
It was enough to cover streets and homes in waist-high floodwater.
Some residents described the panic as the water levels started rising
before they could get out.
"started pushing the door and i could not open the door , because the pressure was so bad, then i really started freaking out because i was afraid that i would drown in the house. finally i got it opened and was in my carport, the water was up to here on me, slowly made it down the street."
In Carencro, hundreds remain displaced.
States of emergencies have been declared in Lafayette parish as well as Acadia Saint Landry and Saint Martin parishes.
