Controversial Bill Makes Waves In House Health And Welfare Committee

At the State Capitol today a controversial bill made some waves in the House Health And Welfare Committee today.

Represenative Sherman Mack proposed a bill to randomly drug test 20 percent of welfare recipients.

If they fail a drug test twice their benefits are taken away for one year.

While Mack says this will stop people from abusing the system.

Other lawmakers worry it's too expensive and unconstitutional.

Mack says it will cost about twenty six thousand dollars to do the drug testing.

it now moves to the house floor for debate.
