Failure To Report Sex Crime Could Become Felony
Failing to report the sexual abuse of a child will be a felony if the Louisiana Legislature passes a bill it's considering now.
Right now failure to report is a misdemeanor.
If the law passes and it becomes a felony violators will be looking at up to three years in jail.
The measure would also expand who must report abuse and neglect whether they see it or not.
Child care providers, clergy, mental health workers, school teachers are required to report any abuse or neglect
the bill is in response to allegations of sex abuse at Penn State.
