Important changes to watch and warnings for Acadiana

Stay on improves quickly tomorrow

Sunday, September 4, 2011 - 6:30pm

Changes to watches:  High Wind Advisory all of Acadiana has replaced the Tropical Storm Warning has been replaced by a High Wind Advisory. Winds in and near the warning area will experience winds 25-35 mph with higher gust.  The Tropical Storm Warning remain for Avoyelles and St Landry Parishes, this is because those places are closest to Tropical Storm Lee.

Flood Threat has diminished. A few storms with heavy rain are still possible but those chances continue to fall also. The Vermilion River did rise above Flood Stage yesterday and crested at 10.47 feet.  Even that stage only the normal flooding of Beaver Park occurred. The river has already fallen below Flood Stage and falling below 9 feet.

Tropical Storm Lee is just northwest of Baton Rouge and moving slowly at 6mph.  That forward motion is forecast to remain till Monday then picking up forward speed and rapidly NE out of the state.

Even without a Flash Flood watch take extra care driving tonight and never cross roads covered in water.
