City Parish President Joey Durel held the first of 10 public meetings last night.
Durel says, the meetings are to hear public input about improving the city.
About forty residents filled the room last night, to voice their opinions on issues that are affecting them, and Durel says, having personal contact helps gets the issues solved.
"For me, it's wanting to hear what people have to say," said Durel. "I enjoy the conversations. I especially enjoy when people have issues. So often the issues are based on not complete information, misperceptions, and things like that. So giving an opportunity to talk to people one-on-one makes a big difference."
Two main issues talked about last night, including garbage collection and the city's traffic camera program.
