Lafayette's new professional football squad continues to take shape. The Acadiana Mudbugs revealed four new players, all with local ties, Tuesday morning.

The Southern Indoor Football League team's additions include former McNeese State Cowboys Ellis Stewart and Jermaine Martin. Plus, former UL defensive tackle Kendrick Haynes and Westminster Christian High School product Jacob Cooley.

The guys signed their contracts at City Club River Ranch, which is throwing its support behind the new gridiron venture.

The new Mudbugs are excited to play, but know they need to get in shape.

If you think you have what it takes to play for the Mudbugs, go to the next try-out session. It’s Saturday, January 17th, at New Iberia High School. You’ll need to bring a waiver form and pay a $50 registration fee. More information is available at the team's website.
