Oyster fishing reopens in two waterways

LAFAYETTE - Oyster harvesters can once again drop nets in two Louisiana waterways.

An area in Plaquemines and St. bernard Parishes will open Friday.

The Department of Health and Hospitals closed these oyster beds in late March, due to a norovirus outbreak linked to these areas.

Health officials determined mollusks fished out of these waters are safe and they will continue to monitor these areas.
