Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum is right now coming off two big primary wins in Alabama and Mississippi.

He was here in Louisiana to celebrate them.

After a private fundraising event in Lafayette tuesday Santorum held a rally at the Hilton Hotel on Pinhook.

After being named an "Honorary Cajun" by Lafayette city-parish president Joey Durel Santorum learned he won both states.

Santorum stopped short of explicitly calling for Gingrich to drop out
but insisted his double red state victories make him the party's Conservative choice and the right man to "beat" President Obama.

“see where he stands on the economic policy, on the war in afghanistan, just different issues, that's why i am here tonight. i believe he has christian principles like i have and he just seems to be the kind of guy that america needs right now. we're seeing gas prices at what are projected to be historic highs and yet this president almost put this whole region out of business. because of the extreme environmental policies of this administration and we wanted to be here in lafayette to say to average folks who are struggling right now because of those energy prices. we will put this town and this region back to work so that you can go back to work and have a better quality life."
