Troy “T-Roy” Broussard, one of the stars of the hit reality show “Swamp People,” caused a major crash in downtown Shreveport this morning. The damage included a power outage that lasted for several hours.

Officials tell NBC33 News that the crash happened at roughly 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19 on the corner of Lake at Market Street. They say Broussard ran a red light and hit an SUV.

Broussard’s vehicle was towing an airboat, which became airborne by the impact of the crash. The boat hit a utility pole, which forced the power outage to businesses in the surrounding areas. Power was not restored until roughly 3:00 p.m.

The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

Broussard told the investigating officer that he was distracted by a low-hanging electrical line that was attached to the traffic signal.

In the hours prior to the crash, Broussard posted on Facebook that he was returning to his home in Beaumont, TX after spending the weekend in Louisiana with the other “Swamp People” cast members.

“Swamp People” was launched in 2010 and airs on the History Channel.
