Lafayette (KADN) — Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigators have arrested two adults in the death of a 10-month-old child.
At 6:40 a.m. on April 4, 2014, deputies responded to the 100 block of Le Medicin Road near Carencro concerning a child who was non-responsive and reported lifeless.
Police received information that the child had accidently suffocated during the night and the mother had discovered the child non-responsive in the morning.
Further investigation revealed that the child had severe trauma consistent with prolonged abuse.
A complete review of the evidence continues in the matter but investigators believe the death was a result of an injury the child sustained on Thursday.
Detectives have arrested the child’s mother, Karin Dupuis, 26, on a charge of accessory to first degree murder, and her live in boyfriend Bryant Rogers, 25, on charges of first degree murder.
No additional arrests are expected, however the investigation is still underway.
