51-year-old Pineville woman shot, killed in Lafayette

UPDATE: Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have identified the victim in Sunday’s early morning shooting as Connie Burch, 51, of Pineville, Louisiana.

 

ORIGINAL: Sunday at approximately 1:10 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 1100 block of Madeline Avenue regarding a shooting victim. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 51 year old female lying on the sidewalk near a coulee bridge. The victim was dead as the result of a single gunshot wound. The shooting is believed to have occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.

Detectives are seeking information on a person of interest that was seen by witnesses leaving the area on a bike. That person is described as a thin build black male with a dark complexion, dreadlocks and wearing a white muscle shirt and red shorts.
