KidzBANK organization sponsored by Capital One Bank
Lafayette, LA (KADN) — Today marked the one year anniversary of KidzBANK at Alice Boucher Elementary. Capital One Bank started KidzBANK last year and now has this organization in schools across the country.
"KidzBANK is an actual bank that we open up at an elementary school through a program that we have called Investing for Good that teaches children how to save money," says Mike Wack, Capital One Market President.
Over 450 students at Alice Boucher are active in this organization, and together they have saved over $5,000.
"They come in right off the bus, sometimes they try to skip breakfast just to get in that line to be sure that they get their money in so its very exciting for them," says Laniakia Johnson, Principal at Alice Boucher Elementary.
KidzBANK here at Alice Boucher Elementary have participants in fifth grade all the way to Pre-k, and just so happen to be the most successful school that Capital One is paired with throughout the nation. Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper expresses his excitement for the school's achievement and gives credit to the hard work of everyone involved.
"I think that the teachers here, the principal, everybody has really put a lot of effort into it and we're just really really pleased with that effort," says Dr. Pat Cooper, Superintendent of Lafayette Parish School System.
