Armed robber busted by Baker PD, confesses

A 19-year-old was arrested in Baker for an armed robbery that happened over the weekend.

The Baker Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 12 at around noon. We’re told two McDonald’s employees were driving down Seville Street. A vehicle driven by the suspect blocked them from going forward and then the driver, armed with a gun, jumped out.

The suspect robbed the two employees of several hundred dollars. We’re told the suspect’s gun fell apart during the robbery as he fled the scene.

On Monday, Oct. 15, detectives were able to track down Chavis Demond Duncan, Jr. based on the description of the vehicle provided by the victims. Duncan was brought in for questioning, and he confessed to the robbery.

Duncan was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for one count of Armed Robbery.
