Body of missing Baton Rouge firefighter located in St. Martin Parish
ST. MARTIN PARISH, LA (KADN) — A 22 day search for a missing Baton Rouge firefighter officially ended today.
The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body of Jacob Lewis, 28, was recovered on Thursday, Feb. 21. They received a call around noon from a dock in St. Martin Parish.
Officials tell us they were able to make a positive identification.
“I’m just happy that we can now give this family some sort of closure,” Sheriff Mike Waguespack said.
Lewis went missing on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at roughly 3:00 p.m. near the Belle River Landing. The location where his body was recovered was roughly two miles from the search location.
Lewis was at the Belle River Landing with his wife. They were reportedly scouting locations to set crawfish traps.
