Burglar kicks in door of apartment, violently attacks female occupant

Friday, February 1, 2013 - 2:30pm

A man allegedly kicked in the front door of an apartment and allegedly punched a woman repeatedly in her face.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred at roughly 2:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1 at a home on Allison Street. We’re told two female occupants of the home reported the incident.

Officials say the suspect, Justin Harding, 26, from Jeanerette, was apprehended for the violent attack after a deputy spotted a vehicle leaving the complex at a high rate of speed. Harding, the driver of the vehicle, matched the description of the suspect provided by the victim.

Harding denied any involvement in the incident. However, deputies say a shoe print on the door matched the one Harding was wearing at the time he was apprehended.

Harding was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Burglary and one count of Second-Degree Battery. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
