Busted tail lamp ends with drug citation in Scott

On Tuesday, July 2, at 11:14 p.m., a Scott Police Officer was conducting vehicle mounted patrols in the 1000 block of L. Provost Road and observed a vehicle traveling in the intersection of L. Provost Road and Provost Street with only one tail lamp in operation. The Officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 500 block of L. Provost Road.

While investigating the traffic stop, the officer observed narcotics residue inside the vehicle. The driver, Jacob Melear, was read the Miranda warnings and gave the officer written permission to search his vehicle.

While searching the vehicle, the Scott Police Officer located a cigarette pack with a vial of marijuana inside.

Melear was arrested for Tail Lamps Required and Possession of a Schedule I Narcotic. He was released on a traffic citation for the traffic violation and a misdemeanor summons form for the drug offense.
