July 3, 2014 — It's too hot to play football at this time of year. But it's not too hot to build a football stadium over at Cajun Field. We wanted to give you an update on the progress. The Lemoine Construction Company started work on the south end zone back in March and the improvements are going very well. The end zone is connected to both sides of the stadium and has created the wanted bowl style seating that will increase the seating by 5,000. Additional renovations can also now be seen with the overhang that will include new restrooms and concession stands.
"They are ahead of schedule on seating part, putting the bowl together, so-to-speak. And they are back to being on schedule with the concessions/restrooms building." said Scott Farmar
"That is the big building right behind the seats that I think has caught a lot of people by surprise at how massive it is and how beautiful its going to be overlooking the stadium. But Lemoine Construction is doing a phenomenal job and have been out here seven days a week for the past several weeks. So I really feel comfortable that they will get it done."
Cajun Field currently has a seating capacity of 31,000, so now you can add 5,000 to the figure. First game of the UL football season is Saturday August 30th vs. Southern... And judging from the last time Southern University came to town and the attendance was 40,000....The fans will need that new 5,000 seats in the south end zone!
