Cox commits $100,000 to American Red Cross for recent Hurricane Isaac victims

Cox Enterprises, in partnership with The James M. Cox Foundation, announced today a combined cash donation of $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist the relief and recovery efforts of the communities affected by Hurricane Isaac.

Cox Enterprises’ cable subsidiary, Cox Communications, operates in Louisiana and in Florida, where Hurricane Isaac’s impact was felt. The company also has multiple Manheim locations and a regional office for AutoTrader.com in the two states.

“I am so proud of the family of more than 1,600 Cox Louisiana employees who in a true Southern Louisiana fashion worked day and night to restore telecommunication services to our customers impacted by Hurricane Isaac,” said Jacqui Vines, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Louisiana. “Within five days of the storm, we were able to restore our system and help our customers make those precious connections they enjoy so much. I am extremely grateful to our parent company for making such a meaningful gesture to help the people of Louisiana rebuild their communities and their lives.”

“Being directly involved in Hurricane Isaac preparations gave me a deep appreciation for the immediate needs of employees, their families and the surrounding communities,” said Kyle Ohman, Manheim market vice president for the Southeast. “I feel local residents affected by Hurricane Isaac will greatly appreciate this support.”

Cox’s impacted employees also have the opportunity to receive support through the Cox Employee Disaster Relief Fund (CEDRF). Created in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the fund provides essential assistance to Cox employees and their families who are impacted by disasters. To date, CEDRF has provided more than $3 million to assist more than 1,500 employees affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires and other devastating events.
