Early Friday morning, a single vehicle crash killed a young man from Marksville, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 3:30 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 107 in Center Point. The crash involved a 2008 GMC pickup, driven by Christian C. Cole, 20. The GMC was northbound on LA Hwy 107 when Cole lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a culvert and then a tree.

Cole was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E Troopers have investigated 23 fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in 23 fatalities.
