A deadly car accident in Broussard last night killed two people.  It happened at the intersection of US 90 and Ambassador Caffrey Parkway.  The police say a car ran a red light which caused a pickup truck to hit it from the side.  The driver of the car, 36 year old Heather Covington of New Iberia, and her passenger, 51 year old Terry Richard of Rayne were killed.  The people in the pickup truck had just a few minor injuries.  Police are saying it is a dangerous intersection.

"That intersection has a high crash rate at it.  We would like for the public to please be aware of your surroundings.  Don't text and drive, pay attention to what's going on," says Chief Brannon Decou, Broussard Police Department.

Police say everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seatbelt.  We're still waiting to find out if the car that ran the red light was drinking.
