Elder Outreach establishes two scholarships at SLCC
Nursing students receiving scholarships at Crowley and Abbeville campuses
Lafayette, LA (KADN) — Nursing students at South Louisiana Community College received scholarship money from a community group out of Baton Rouge. Elder Outreach of Baton Rouge presented the SLCC Foundation with two scholarships totaling $6,000. The scholarships were awarded to students majoring in the nurse assistant program or practical nursing at SLCC's gulf area campus in Abbeville and its acadian campus in Crowley.
"This is exciting! This is scholarship number three here at SLCC. Elder Outreach, we've been in contact since August we've been working on this scholarship donation for a few months now so its like seeing the baby born. You get to see the products of your result so its great," says Dr. Jennifer Jackson, Executive Director of SLCC Foundation.
The scholarships will be awarded on a bi-annual basis to an incoming freshman or returning students majoring in the nurse assistant program or practical nursing program. Nearly 300 students are enrolled in these programs college wide.
