Law enforcement agencies obtained search warrant after tips from community and multiple undercover buys
LAFAYETE (KADN) — This Fastway in Opelousas is now closed, and police say it's been a long time coming.
"We know that this place, this establishment, has been an eye sore as well as an area frequented by those who are doing the wrong thing for the wrong reasons," says Chief Perry Gallow, Opelousas Police Department.
After several complaints from the community and multiple undercover busts the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office along with the Opelousas Police Department finally got a search warrant for this gas station. Today they shut it down.
"It's a huge example that it not only takes multiple law enforcement agencies but it takes our community as well. The communities are our eyes and ears, their our detectives out there whenever they give us a tip we take that tip very seriously, and I think today is a really good example of that," says Captain Megan Vizena, St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office.
