You can help by being a volunteer, and leaving your ice chest at home

Many people might not realize that Festival International is an independent non-profit organization, meaning they raise their own money each year to make sure the community can continue to have a free Festival International.  One of the best ways you can help with that is by volunteering.  There are 2,000 spots every year for volunteers during the festival.  You can sign up online at FestivalInternational.com/volunteer, or by going to the volunteer center that will be on site starting Wednesday going through the weekend.

"People don't even realize how lucky they are to have a festival like this in their backyard!  Free festivals like this are not normal, I mean they're really rare and we want to make sure that we can keep ours forever," says Missy Paschke-Wood, executive director of Festival International.

Another big help is purchasing beverages at the festival and leaving your ice chests at home.  Beverage sales are the number one fundraiser at Festival International.  It starts Wednesday and goes on throughout the weekend, and volunteers are needed the most Saturday and Sunday afternoon into the early evening.
