July 4, 2014 — Every 4th of July means it's time for friends and family to come together, throw some food on the bar-b-q pit, and of course fireworks. Whether you're attending one of the many firework shows around Acadiana, or purchasing your own, fireworks are an essential part of any 4th of July celebration.
"The fourth of July is the independence. So everybody wants to feel that in their fireworks, just shooting in the air. On the other hand, unlike the major other holidays they kind of save up for fourth of July." said local firework vendor Maurice Brown. "They just know thats what you look for fourth of July is fireworks."
Dry weather slowed down firework sales last 4th of July, but local vendors aren't letting last years experience slow down their expectations. Many vendors are expecting to have one of their strongest selling years.
