As most of the country deals with an uprecendented number of West Nile Virus cases, here in Acadiana we have been unaffected until now.
The Louisiana State Health Department reported a West Nile Virus case in Lafayette.

This is the first case in the area in five years.
The person is a man who is at least 75 year old and lives around Johnston Street and West Bayou Parkway.
The cooler weather in the forecast should help slow the mosquito population in the Acadaina area.
