Fourth Annual Festival of the Arts hosted by UL's College of the Arts
Lafayette, LA (KADN) — A major part of the Cajun culture is the flare of art which you can take part in celebrating all week long with UL's College of the Arts. The fourth annual Festival of the Arts has begun that celebrates all of the arts represented at UL including the design arts, visual arts, musical arts, and performing arts. The festival kicked off Friday night when UL's College of the Arts partnered with the Acadiana Center for the Arts to host ArTech Fusion, which was a public event showing the marriage between the arts and digital technology. The dean of UL's College of the Arts speaks about why it is important to celebrate UL's art programs.
"That's our real connection to the city. We have a vibrant, very vibrant art community. Visual artists and musicians and performing artists, they all are our graduates or they were inspired by our graduates," says H. Gordon Brooks II, FAIA, Dean, UL Lafayette College of the Arts.
Tonight at the Acadiana Center for the Arts the school of Architecture and Design will create a fashion show where freshman design students create wearable abjects from everyday found material. The event is open to the public and will start at 6:30 pm with a $10 admissions fee. Tomorrow there will be Marais Press Steamroller Printmaking Extravaganza at the Fletcher parking lot from 9 am until 3 pm. Wednesday will be the 3D Atelier at Fletcher Hall grounds all day starting at 10 am and ending at 5 pm, which both events will be open and free to the public. The celebration will end Friday with a Sporting Clay Tournament at the Wilderness Gun Club which will raise scholarship funds for the school of Architecture and Design.
