Rubin charged with Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery
Lafayette, LA (KADN) — Dustin Rubin was arrested yesterday after escorting his live-in girlfriend into the ICU in January with head trauma. A CATScan indicated several hemorrhages, some new and some older along with old facial fractures suggesting prolonged abuse. After several interviews, investigators were able to secure enough evidence to charge Rubin with Aggravated Second Degree Battery. Sergeant Jody White says the victim is fortunate the abuse has come to an end now, before it was too late.
"This is one I would consider one of the more prolonged cases where as the longer this would continue or would have continued then you could possibly end up with something worse than just hemorrhaging near the brain or facial fractures anything of that nature you know anything close to death if this would have prolonged," says Sgt. Jody White, Opelousas Police Department.
Rubin is still housed in the Opelousas City Jail and being held without bond. Opelousas Police Department continues to gather statements and interviews to further their investigation which to this point is still ongoing.
