A Keatchie man was arrested by Caddo sheriff’s deputies Thursday for being impaired when he crashed his vehicle and caused a 4-year-old boy to be thrown from the car.

According to Caddo officials, the crash happened July 3 on Highway 169 in Keithville. A person was flagged down by the child after Daniel Jackson, 25, lost control of his car and drove it off the highway into the woods. Both Jackson and the child were thrown from the vehicle. There was no child safety seat in the car. Jackson was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, and the child was treated then released.

The Caddo Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for Jackson’s arrest for vehicular negligent injury, driving under the influence with child endangerment and child safety restraint violations.

Deputies found the Jackson on Thursday hiding in the bathroom of his house on Keatchie Marshall Road. He was taken to the Caddo Correctional Center where he was booked on the warrant. No bond has been set.
