ENTERTAINMENT NEWS (CNN) — More than a decade after being crowned the first "American Idol," Kelly Clarkson returned to the stage that made her famous to perform on "Idol's" Thursday night results show.
Clarkson sang her new single, "People Like Us," under black lights that showed off her dayglo costume, makeup and nails.
Following her performance, Clarkson revealed that she was nervous to sing in front of new "Idol" judge Mariah Carey.
She even tweeted the day before, "Okay. Tomorrow I'm performing at Idol in front of @MariahCarey. Pray for me. #PleaseDearGodDontLetMeSuck"
Carey eventually joined the "Stronger" singer onstage for a hug.
"If I would have been one of them coming to audition I would have vomited on the stage," Clarkson said. "I'm so glad you're not mean."
