LA earns "D" grade for children's health
Lafayette, LA (KADN) — Louisiana earned a "D" grade on a children's health report card from Pennington Biomedical Research Center. This grade, the fifth "D" in as many years, reflects low levels of physical activity, sports participation, and fruit and vegetable consumption among our children.
Researchers took note of Louisiana's lack of "built environments," places like parks and playgrounds designed to promote healthy physical activities for children. A lack of safe environments for kids' activities may contribute to the fact that one in four of Louisiana's children is physically inactive.
