The Louisiana Office of Tourism is the State Tourism Office of the Year according to the Southeast Tourism Society.

The award, presented by Bill Hardman, STS president and CEO, to Louisiana tourism chief Kyle Edmiston, acknowledges the office's team accomplishments, effective marketing, creativity in design, implementation of new projects, and work advancing the cause of travel and tourism in the Southeast.

“In an attempt to build on the success of our record-setting 2012, we have worked hard to ensure our Pick Your Passion brand increases tourism to Louisiana,” Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne said. “Visitors spend more than $10.7 billion in Louisiana each year, which supports one in every 10 jobs Louisianians hold.”

The Louisiana Office of Tourism earned the award for the execution and incorporation of its tourism brand—Pick Your Passion, created by Lt. Governor Dardenne in 2011—and for celebrating the year of music with its marketing campaign weaving the musical sounds of the state into all avenues of marketing and advertising.

The STS Shining Example Awards recognize outstanding contributions in tourism in the Southeastern states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
