There is Good news for the Lafayette Fire Department.
The department just got more than 1.6 million dollars in grant money.
The fire chief says the money will make a big difference in the deparment and in the community.

The grant comes at a pivotal juncture as the fire deparment faces a millage renewal come November.
A millage that accounts for a number of deparment salaries.
If it is voted down they might be forced to make cuts.
